Quality male to male “fly leads” (can be converted to Male to Female with a “Back
to Back” Co-
Forget these leads` alleged 100Hz capability, what counts is the 6mm double shielded (RG6 type) cable and they`re robust enough for us to use them around the workshop. Note the crimped on plug (no weak solder joint here), the RF chokes and the strain relief moulding. White in colour and available in 2m and 4m lengths.
Bargain, I`ll have a dozen.......
Individually screened SCART cable
Our suppliers tell us that this grade of SCART cable is suitable for up to 15m. We thought we`d be on the safe side, so we only sell them up to 10m !
Obviously (as with any type of cable) the shorter any cable is, the lower the loss.
Thus we sell 1m, 3m, 5m and 10m lengths.
Brass Co-
The picture shows two types of F connector. The one on the right is the easier to use type, so needless to say, that`s the one we stock. Our Fs have in internal diameter of about 6.5mm, and fit our cable which has an external diameter of about 6.7mm.
Note, F connectors (if required) are included with any amp or splitter supplied by us.
Co Axial “Back to Backs”
Female to female coupler (also known as barrel connectors) are used to convert a male plug to a female. We do not recommend Female Co Ax sockets (except right angle types) because the design of them is not conducive to reliability. Very few trade aerial suppliers sell them either, and that`s got to tell you something. (connector shown both ways in the picture)
This consists of :

Requires a 10mm hole on the masonry. These wall plugs are the better “collared” type
Note, four anchors are required for a single wall bracket and five for a pair of T & Ks.
Cable Clips in White, Brown or Black.
These 7mm clips “grip” the cable well so you don`t have to hold them whilst you hammer in the nail. Thus saving your fingers from the possibility of making acquaintance
with the hammer......
The nail is hardened and zinc plated.
We use them so they must be good.
Hole Covers / Blow Out Covers in Brown or White.

To avoid confusion we recommend that you phone the order through, and futhermore we may be able to send it Royal Mail which is cheaper on the P & P.
Alternatively, if it`s straight forward, you can just order all the components Online, then add the £2 per end fee to attach the plugs. It may be worth using the Contact Us form to confirm exactly what is required if there is any room for confusion !
We don`t really recommend surface plates, particularly the “budget” types, but if you have to use one, try to ensure it`s screened (as in those above) and non isolated. Try to ensure the cable is not kinked, route it like the one above left, and not like the one above right......

TV + FM/DAB diplexed surface outlet plate [white]. Loss approx 1dB.
The unit is isolated on the FM leg only, i.e. it will pass 12V to a M / H amp but on the TV leg only. As can be seen from the pictures (above right) it is screened. The TV outlet is a male (a Back to Back may be used if req) and the FM/DAB outlet is a female. See the articles on Surface Plates and Diplexers. Note this is a diplexed surface plate (one in to two out).

TV + FM/DAB + Satellite triplexed surface outlet plate [white]. Loss approx 1dB
The unit is isolated on the TV and FM/DAB legs (i.e. It will not pass 12V to a Mast Head amp on the TV or FM leg) but it will obviously pass the LNB voltage on the satellite leg. As can be seen from the picture (above right) it is screened. The TV outlet is a male (a Back to Back may be used if req) and the FM/DAB outlet is a female. Note this is a triplexed surface plate (one in to three out) and the right hand input is not used.

We sell “Self Amalgamating" Tape (which sticks to itself when the backing is removed) for sealing outside joints or the F connector on an LNB, see use of self amalgamating tape.
NOTE : We sell the wider 25mm amalgamating tape, not the thinner 19mm stuff......
We also stock Insulation Tape, decent stuff not crap, for, well, just about anything. It`s nice and sticky and stretchy, so it`s perfect for taping the cable to the side of the pole, amongst 1001 other things. One thing it isn`t for is sealing outside joints. Not unless you`re name is Bertie (as in Bodger).
The insulation tape is 0.12mm thick, 19mm wide, and flame retardant. BS60454.

12mm Spacer Plate. This spacer plate can be handy if you are upgrading from an unscreened surface plate to a screened type and your pattress box isn`t deep enough, or you want to increase the clearance behind the plate so as to ease a kinked cable. Fits standard UK size pattress.

The cable is just as important as the aerial (and any amp or splitter, if fitted) in providing a decent signal on your set. The cable should be changed as a matter of course if any work is undertaken on the aerial, unless you are sure it is sound and of good quality.

The only choice you have to make is which colour you want, Black, Brown or White ?
A typical cable run (from the roof) is about 15m. Bear in mind that it is preferable to order a bit too much, than a piece that`s a bit too short..... Any extra cable can be made into fly leads, which, I guarantee, will be better quality than those you already have.

Eye Screw (75mm 18sg) + M10 plug
Tying off a ladder is very wise when working at height.
